Tesla is gearing up for yet another expansion of its Texas Gigafactory, with the specific goal of constructing specialized facilities to enable the mass - scale production of its humanoid robot, Optimus. At present, Tesla has set up a pilot production line at its Fremont factory in Northern California. This line is dedicated to assembling a number of prototype Optimus units. Moreover, Tesla has firm plans to shift the bulk of its production capacity over to the Texas Gigafactory.
In terms of production capacity, the Fremont factory is projected to reach an annual output of 1 million units. Meanwhile, Elon Musk, the visionary leader of Tesla, has made it clear that the new plant within the Texas Gigafactory will strive for an even more ambitious annual production target of 10 million units. As for the timeline, the mass production of Optimus at the Texas Gigafactory is slated to kick off in 2027.
