On November 10, U.S. media outlets reported that Siddhant Awasthi, the project leader for Tesla's Cybertruck, has resigned from the company. This move further intensifies concerns over the high turnover rate among Tesla's senior executives this year, a trend that coincides with fluctuating sales figures.
After dedicating three years to steering the development and production ramp-up of the much-debated electric pickup truck, Awasthi has decided to leave Tesla. He acknowledged that the decision was a difficult one, particularly given Tesla's position at the forefront of numerous promising growth avenues. However, he chose not to reveal his future plans.
Awasthi's resignation is the latest in a string of high-profile departures from Tesla. The company is currently grappling with challenges such as sluggish consumer demand and the expiration of key U.S. tax incentives. At the same time, Tesla is aggressively pursuing new business ventures, including robotaxis and humanoid robots.
In another notable move, David Lau, Tesla's Vice President of Software Engineering, also concluded his nearly 13-year tenure at the company this year to join OpenAI.
