On Sunday evening, Siddharth Awasthi, the individual at the helm of Tesla's Cybertruck project, declared his resignation. Data from Cox Automotive reveals that Tesla managed to sell a mere 5,385 Cybertrucks in the third quarter of 2025. This figure represents a staggering 63% year-on-year decrease. When looking at the cumulative deliveries for the first nine months of this year, the total stands at 16,097 units, which is a 38% drop compared to the corresponding period in the previous year. These numbers fall drastically short of Musk's earlier projected annual sales target of 250,000 units, thereby triggering a wave of turmoil within the senior management ranks.
