On November 10, 2025, Subaru made a public announcement stating that it would reassess its previously outlined electrification investment plan, which was set at 1.5 trillion yen (equivalent to approximately $9.95 billion). The primary objective of this reassessment is to realize annual cost savings amounting to 200 billion yen by the year 2030, as a strategic move to counterbalance the financial repercussions arising from U.S. import tariffs. In pursuit of this goal, Subaru has devised a plan to redirect a segment of its investments. Instead of solely focusing on pure electric vehicle development, the company intends to allocate resources towards the research, development, and production of hybrid models as well as vehicles powered by internal combustion engines.
