Recently, there has been a surge in discussions surrounding the direction of power battery technology. At the communication session of the Tokyo Auto Show, Li Yunfei, General Manager of BYD's Brand and Public Relations Department, unequivocally declared that BYD will persist in following the safety-focused technology path of lithium iron phosphate batteries. This commitment extends to all current and forthcoming vehicle models and represents a steadfast principle for BYD.

He highlighted that China's power battery sector stands at the forefront globally in terms of scale, resource availability, and research and development capabilities. The existing lithium iron phosphate battery solutions boast a robust foundation, supported by extensive charging infrastructure and well-developed winter insulation technology, fully catering to usage requirements.

Consumers frequently express safety concerns due to incidents of electric vehicle fires but tend to overlook the significance of battery types. However, BYD has consistently prioritized safety as the 'most fundamental product objective' and the 'paramount luxury.' The 15-year journey of electrifying China's public transportation has validated the safety credentials of lithium iron phosphate batteries. All electric buses across the country utilize this battery type, and no significant fire incidents have been reported.

Industry data further corroborates this trend, showing that from January to September this year, the cumulative installed capacity of lithium iron phosphate batteries reached 493.9 GWh, marking a year-on-year increase of 42.5%. With a market share surpassing 80%, it has emerged as the mainstream choice in the industry.
