According to three insiders with direct knowledge of the situation, Dutch technology investment conglomerate Prosus has signaled preliminary interest in acquiring Mobile.de, Germany's leading online automotive trading platform. This move comes amid reports that the platform's current stakeholders, Permira and Blackstone Group, are exploring strategic options, including the sale of a stake.

While Permira and Blackstone Group reportedly favor pursuing an initial public offering (IPO) for Mobile.de, the platform—which dominates Germany's online auto trading market—has drawn significant interest from multiple suitors, including Prosus. Industry sources suggest Prosus may pursue the acquisition through its classifieds division, OLX.

Earlier this year, Permira and Blackstone Group engaged J.P. Morgan and Goldman Sachs to advise on Mobile.de's potential IPO, with market analysts projecting a valuation of up to €10 billion (approximately $11.66 billion) if the company goes public next year. However, no formal sale process has commenced, and insiders caution that Prosus could ultimately opt out of bidding.
