On November 5th, during the 8th China International Import Expo, Volkswagen Group (China) made an announcement. Its software subsidiary, CARIAD, along with the intelligent driving technology firm Horizon Robotics, has established a joint venture named CARIZON. This newly formed company is set to independently design and develop system-level computing solutions within China. The purpose is to bolster the advanced driver assistance and autonomous driving systems of the Volkswagen Group.
The solution offered by CARIZON amalgamates Volkswagen Group's extensive global experience in engineering systems and system integration. It also incorporates Horizon Robotics' well-developed software-hardware integration technology, along with its edge in local mass production. The ultimate goal is to craft a 'smart brain' for the upcoming generation of intelligent connected vehicles. The inaugural advanced intelligent driver assistance solution from CARIZON is slated to officially commence mass production in 2025.
