On the 4th, a group of prominent global automakers—including General Motors, Tesla, Toyota, Hyundai, Volkswagen, and Ford—submitted formal documents to the Office of the United States Trade Representative. In these documents, they urged the U.S. government to renew the "United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement" (USMCA). This trade pact, which was signed by the United States, Mexico, and Canada in 2018 and officially took effect in July 2020, is set to undergo a renewal review in 2026. According to Reuters, ahead of this critical review, these automakers not only emphasized the necessity of extending the agreement in their submissions but also put forward several proposed amendments.
