On October 24, 2025, US electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian revealed in an internal notice that it would be laying off roughly 4.5% of its workforce, a move that would impact more than 600 employees. Founder and CEO RJ Scaringe explained that these layoffs are mainly a result of restructuring efforts within the marketing, vehicle operations, sales/delivery, and mobility operations departments. In addition to this, Rivian has reached a settlement agreement to pay $250 million to resolve an investor lawsuit. Of this amount, $67 million will be covered by director and officer liability insurance, while the remaining $183 million will come from the company's existing cash reserves.
