Recently, there have been reports circulating that Toyota Motor is embarking on channel reforms by instituting a "one city, one store" approach. Under this proposed model, a single joint-venture 4S dealership would be established in each city to offer the entire lineup of models from both GAC Toyota and FAW Toyota. Today, a pertinent executive from Toyota China clarified the situation, stating that the report is based on a misinterpretation. At present, Toyota China is merely conducting a pilot program for a joint sales model in a select few lower-tier cities where either FAW Toyota or GAC Toyota is present. The aim is to furnish consumers with more convenient services and a broader array of product options. This pilot program is small in scale and does not entail a comprehensive channel integration across all regions.
