On September 29, Bloomberg reported that over two years have passed since BYD made a high-profile debut in the Japanese market, yet it still grapples with the challenge of low consumer acceptance. Even though BYD has established 45 sales outlets, rolled out its fourth electric vehicle model, and is gearing up to introduce electric light-duty vehicles by the end of 2026, the company managed to sell only 5,300 vehicles from January 2023 to June of this year. In an effort to spur sales, BYD has embarked on implementing substantial price-cutting strategies.
