Xiaomi, working in collaboration with the State Administration for Market Regulation, has jointly declared the recall of a specific batch of SU7 Standard Edition electric vehicles. These vehicles were manufactured from February 6, 2024, to August 30, 2025, with a total of 116,887 units affected. The recall encompasses three distinct models: XMA7000MBEVR2, XMA7000MBEVR5, and BJ7000MBEVR2. The root cause of the recall lies in the potential inadequacy of certain vehicles' recognition, warning, and handling mechanisms under extreme and special conditions when the L2 highway pilot-assisted driving feature is engaged, thereby presenting a safety risk. To mitigate this risk, Xiaomi will offer a complimentary software update for the recalled vehicles through OTA (Over-the-Air) technology. This move comes in the wake of a tragic car accident linked to the SU7's assisted driving system, which unfortunately claimed the lives of three college students.
