On September 19, the official website of the State Administration for Market Regulation revealed that Xiaomi Automobile Technology Co., Ltd. had submitted a recall plan in compliance with relevant regulations. The company decided to recall 116,887 standard-version SU7 electric vehicles, which were manufactured between February 6, 2024, and August 30, 2025. The recall was prompted by concerns that, under extreme and specific conditions, some vehicles might demonstrate inadequate recognition, warning, or response capabilities when the L2 highway pilot-assist driving function was engaged, thereby presenting potential safety hazards. To rectify this issue, Xiaomi Automobile will offer a complimentary software upgrade for the affected vehicles via OTA (Over-the-Air) technology, aiming to eradicate the underlying safety risks (the term "hidden danger" has been contextualized as "potential safety hazards" for clarity). Vehicle owners will be informed about the recall through SMS messages, mobile app notifications, and other communication channels. On the same day, Lei Jun took to Weibo to announce that Xiaomi Automobile had commenced its major OTA autumn update, which would be rolled out simultaneously for both the Xiaomi SU7 and YU7 models.
