Should the U.S. decide to slash tariffs on Japanese automobiles from 27.5% down to 15% on the 16th, Nissan vehicles will enjoy a price advantage in the U.S. market over their Korean counterparts, such as Hyundai. Presently, Korean cars are still subject to a 25% tariff rate, a consequence of the stalemate in the Korea-U.S. tariff negotiations. This disparity could lead to Korean vehicles being priced higher than their Japanese competitors.
