On September 8, Uber, the globe's premier mobility service platform, and intelligent driving firm Momenta declared that Munich, Germany, will serve as the launch city for their collaborative Robotaxi endeavor, with formal operations projected to kick off in 2026. This partnership marks an expansion of their existing strategic alliance, setting the stage for a more extensive Robotaxi service network across Europe.

Munich, recognized as the epicenter and innovation hub of Germany's automotive sector, prides itself on a world-class automotive ecosystem and a receptive stance towards innovative mobility solutions. At present, Momenta has forged robust partnerships with esteemed German luxury automotive brands, including Mercedes-Benz and BMW.

Momenta employs a 'One Flywheel, Two Legs' strategy, which facilitates efficient synergy and swift iteration between L2 intelligent assisted driving and L4 autonomous driving Robotaxi through data-driven methodologies. In contrast to industry norms, Momenta utilizes mass-produced vehicle models, integrating a unified software algorithm architecture and sensor solution for both L2 and L4, thereby enabling earlier large-scale deployment and commercial viability.

Presently, the production volume of vehicles equipped with Momenta's intelligent assisted driving system has surpassed 400,000 units. In May of this year, the two entities announced a strategic partnership, with intentions to introduce autonomous vehicles onto the Uber platform in international markets excluding the United States and China.

Upon the service's initiation, Munich residents will have the capability to summon Momenta's Robotaxi vehicles via the Uber platform to indulge in autonomous driving experiences. Furthermore, Momenta has already initiated Robotaxi operations in Shanghai, with the inaugural batch of driverless Robotaxi vehicles slated to commence trial operations before the year's end.
