Automaker Stellantis has entered into an accord with trade unions to extend the work hour reduction initiative at the Mirafiori plant in Turin, Italy, for a period of five months. This measure aims to reduce labor costs and address the sluggish local auto demand. This agreement aligns with the one inked this month for other Italian plants. The extended initiative will span from September 1 to January 31 of the subsequent year. The Mirafiori plant, once a towering symbol of automotive manufacturing in Europe and now the cradle of Fiat under Stellantis, has faced a prolonged period of decline. To rejuvenate the facility, Stellantis intends to commence production of the Fiat 500 hybrid model in November.
