CPCA: Cumulative Sales of New Energy Vehicles Surpass 5.274 Million in 2025, Marking a 30.9% Year-on-Year Increase

Data released by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) reveals that passenger vehicle sales in June totaled 2.14 million units, representing a 20.6% year-on-year growth and a 14.7% month-on-month increase. Notably, the new energy vehicle segment shone brightly, with sales soaring to approximately 1.11 million units, a 33.3% year-on-year jump and a 15.0% month-on-month rise, outpacing the general market growth. These sales accounted for 51.9% of the total passenger vehicle sales, marking a slight increase of 0.2% from the previous month and a notable 4.9% surge compared to the same period last year.

Breaking down the figures, sales of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) amounted to roughly 676,000 units, experiencing a robust 42.1% year-on-year growth and a 16.8% month-on-month increase. Meanwhile, sales of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) stood at approximately 434,000 units, registering a 21.6% year-on-year increase and a 12.4% month-on-month uptick. Furthermore, by the end of 2025, cumulative sales of new energy vehicles had reached an impressive 5.274 million units, signaling a 30.9% year-on-year rise.
