Snap Inc. has announced the forthcoming launch of its sixth-generation AR smart glasses, branded as Specs, scheduled for release in 2026. Departing from the Spectacles series name, these glasses are geared towards the consumer market and boast a more streamlined, lightweight design. Although specific pricing details and exact launch dates have yet to be disclosed, Snap has provided some insights into the upcoming product. In September 2024, Snap introduced the fifth-generation Spectacles exclusively to developers, offering them via a subscription model that included a monthly fee of $99 USD and a one-year commitment. The new Specs, on the other hand, will leverage augmented reality technology, enabling users to engage with digital content seamlessly. These glasses will run on Snap's proprietary Snap OS operating system, enhancing the overall user experience.
