A research team, led by Gu Hongwei from the Institute of Electrical Engineering at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and in partnership with the Queensland University of Technology in Australia, has achieved a significant breakthrough in the realm of flexible power generation devices for smart wearables. They have meticulously crafted a high-performance flexible Ag2Se/rGO composite thermoelectric film material, boasting an impressive room temperature thermoelectric figure of merit (ZT value) of 1.28, positioning it among the elite globally. Leveraging this innovative material, the team has engineered a three-dimensional out-of-plane flexible power generation device, which boasts a normalized power density of 9.8μWcm⁻²K⁻². This groundbreaking device harnesses the temperature differential between the environment and the human body to generate electricity, effectively powering electronic devices such as watches, and presenting a novel approach to energizing smart wearable technology.
