Apple has opted not to incorporate a camera into the Apple Watch by 2027, instead focusing on deepening its commitment to AI hardware. Since 2019, the tech giant has experimented with various designs to integrate cameras into the wearable, such as embedding them within the Digital Crown or integrating them into the watch band. However, despite shelving this plan, Apple's visual intelligence capabilities are already available on the iPhone series, and their potential application to the Apple Watch could significantly elevate the user experience. Looking ahead, Apple's AirPods and smart glasses are poised to feature AI functionalities. The smart glasses are slated for a 2026 release, while the AI-enabled AirPods will come equipped with a built-in camera to enhance situational awareness.
