Apple had developed a prototype for an ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air featuring a 6.9-inch display but ultimately chose not to proceed with production due to concerns regarding the device's susceptibility to bending. In his latest Power On newsletter, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman revealed that despite the prototype's impressive screen size, its extremely thin design rendered it vulnerable to bending, leading Apple to shelve the project. This decision could be linked to Apple's prior encounter with the infamous 'Bendgate' scandal, where the iPhone 6 Plus garnered controversy for its tendency to warp.
