A recent firmware update, version v1020.7, released by Samsung has resulted in malfunctioning smart soundbars from the 2024 to 2025 model years. Users have reported that after installing the update, their devices have become unresponsive, with the screen initially displaying a "System Error" message, followed by a black screen. Among the affected models are the Q990D and others. Samsung has acknowledged the issue but has not yet issued an official response, instead advising users to disable automatic updates to prevent the installation of this problematic firmware.
