The Indonesian government has awarded Apple with five 'local content' certifications, encompassing five distinct models of the iPhone 16. However, in the realm of telecommunications, licenses have been granted exclusively for specific iPhone 16 series. Earlier, the Indonesian government had prohibited the sale of the iPhone 16 in October 2024, citing Apple's inability to meet the mandate of locally producing 40% of mobile phone components. Presently, Apple must still secure additional licenses from ministries like the Ministry of Trade to fully reinstate sales operations.
