Google is in advanced negotiations with AdHawk Microsystems, a Canadian pioneer in eye-tracking technology, aiming to acquire the company for a sum of $115 million (approximately RMB 832 million). This strategic move signifies Google's re-entry into the realm of head-mounted devices and smart glasses. While an agreement is anticipated to be finalized this week, it remains subject to change and is not yet set in stone. The deal stipulates a potential future payment of $15 million, contingent upon AdHawk meeting predetermined performance benchmarks. Upon completion of the acquisition, it is reported that AdHawk's employees will integrate into Google's Android XR team, a division under the platform organization.
