Microsoft has announced system-level performance and memory optimizations for Windows 11 PCs equipped with 8GB of RAM, targeting everyday office work, web browsing, and light multitasking scenarios to enhance the responsiveness of entry-level devices. Lab tests show that system responsiveness on 8GB devices has improved by up to 20%, while multitasking workflow completion speed has increased by as much as 40%. The improvements focus on three key areas: making efficient use of existing memory, ensuring immediate response for high-frequency interactions, and reducing memory usage by the system and key applications. Specific measures include optimizing the memory compression mechanism, prioritizing high-frequency interface operations, adjusting background task priorities, and shortening the sleep duration of inactive Edge tabs—cutting the growth of allocated memory in multitasking tests by up to 900MB.
