Samsung Display and LG Display, both suppliers for Apple, are developing new manufacturing processes for OLED panels. Apple favors existing sputtering processes for producing display panels based on high-mobility oxide technology, and the two suppliers are separately developing new atomic layer deposition and sputtering solutions to bring the related technologies onto actual production lines. This process upgrade is expected to boost the luminous brightness of individual pixels in OLED panels, improve overall screen brightness performance, and enhance display contrast. If mass production is successfully achieved, the screen quality of future iPhones and iPads could see further improvements.
