On October 9, Apple revised its roster of vintage products, officially including the first-generation Apple TV 4K (model A1842), which debuted in 2017, in this category. Per Apple's guidelines, vintage products are those devices that have been out of production for a minimum of 5 years but less than 7 years. For such products, official repair services and parts support are gradually phased out, contingent on the availability of inventory. In contrast, products that have been discontinued for over 7 years are deemed obsolete.

The first-generation Apple TV 4K holds the distinction of being Apple's inaugural TV box to feature 4K and HDR capabilities. Following its release, subsequent iterations were launched in 2021 and 2022, respectively. Furthermore, anticipation is mounting for the announcement of the latest Apple TV 4K, slated for October 13.
