On October 9th, Nikkei Asia reported that the skyrocketing prices of memory chips have compelled Apple to increase the prices of its newly launched iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. This price hike has subsequently dampened market demand. In reaction, Apple has requested some of its suppliers to scale back the production of components for these two models. Specifically, orders for October have been slashed by a minimum of 15% compared to the initial plan. Several sources with knowledge of the situation revealed that Apple has adopted a more cautious approach to its shipping schedules since the beginning of September. Given the differing production cycles among suppliers, the order adjustments made in October will only impact the output of certain suppliers.
