The international repair team at iFixit took apart two smartwatch models, namely the Apple Watch Series 12 and the Apple Watch Ultra 4, and rated their repairability at 4 out of 10. Both watches have their screens firmly glued, which means the screen usually needs to be detached first when conducting repairs. The Apple Watch Ultra 4 boasts a battery capacity of 2.444Wh, up from the Ultra 3's 2.313Wh. Yet, replacing the battery still necessitates the removal of the screen. The four screws at the bottom of the device are solely for opening the back cover sensor assembly and accessing the S11 chip. Once the screen is removed, the press-fit connectors for the battery and display are fairly straightforward to manage. However, it's crucial to be cautious and avoid the flexible cables beneath when taking off the screen to prevent any harm to the internal connection framework.

The Apple Watch Series 12 features a battery capacity of 1.461Wh, surpassing the 1.403Wh of the 46mm Series 11. Apple has incorporated stretch-release adhesive and pull tabs in this model, making the battery removal process more streamlined. Nevertheless, the clearance around the screen is narrower compared to the Ultra 4, demanding more effort during removal and heightening the risk of screen damage. Moreover, Apple has swapped out the ZIF connectors and tape from previous models with press-fit connectors, integrating screen repair and battery removal into a single process. This means the battery must be removed first when replacing the screen.
