On September 30, reports emerged indicating that the national measurement technical specification, namely the ‘Technical Specification for Acoustic Performance Testing of Smart Glasses’, is set to be officially enforced from October 2. This specification will provide a unified benchmark for evaluating the acoustic performance of smart glasses.
In response to prevalent industry challenges and consumer apprehensions, the ‘Specification’ outlines a standardized testing protocol, concentrating on the two primary functions of smart glasses: ‘sound recording’ and ‘sound playback’. It also delineates three critical evaluation criteria:
Firstly, the frequency response for both sound recording and playback, ensuring precise sound reproduction that closely aligns with human auditory perception.
Secondly, the directional performance in microphone sound recording, gauging the device's proficiency in capturing the wearer's voice and sounds from various directions, while effectively filtering out ambient background noise.
Thirdly, the sound leakage test during playback, aimed at preventing sound leakage and safeguarding user privacy during calls and audio playback.
It is mandated that all tests be conducted within an anechoic chamber to ensure accuracy and reliability.
