Apple's first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, is scheduled to launch on October 23 but is encountering production challenges. According to sources close to Foxconn's supply chain, as of September 17, the final assembly yield rate for the iPhone Duo stood at just over 60%, significantly below Apple's stringent quality benchmark of over 97% for mature models. Consequently, initial production volumes of the iPhone Duo will be limited, with a global stock target of approximately 6 to 8 million units. Based on Apple's current quality standards, it may take another six months to a year for the production line to achieve mature yield rates. Despite these challenges, Apple remains committed to its original launch timeline, with the iPhone Duo's starting price in China set at RMB 15,999 and pre-orders slated to begin at 8 PM on October 16.
