On September 23, 2026, numerous Apple users observed that iOS 27.2 Beta 2 had rolled out a novel 'Restrict Motion Data' setting for users in China. This option can be found under 'Settings' > 'Privacy & Security' > 'Motion & Fitness'. It empowers users to manually block specific apps from accessing motion sensor data, such as accelerometer and gyroscope readings. This move aims to minimize unintended activations of shake-to-interact advertisements caused by phone movements. Presently, this functionality is only accessible when logged into an App Store account registered in mainland China and vanishes upon switching to an account from a different region.
