The Color Filter on Encapsulation (CoE) OLED display technology that Apple plans to introduce in the coming years may face further delays. Previously rumored to debut in Apple's 20th anniversary commemorative iPhone, the technology is now expected to be officially adopted in the 2029 Pro series models. CoE technology enhances light transmittance, reduces power consumption, and results in thinner screens with more vibrant colors by eliminating the polarizer and integrating the color filter directly into the OLED encapsulation layer. Samsung has already pioneered the use of this technology in its foldable smartphones and plans to extend it to its bar-style models. Apple has signed an exclusive supply agreement with Samsung for foldable display panels and plans to fully adopt CoE technology in models such as the iPad Pro OLED and MacBook Pro OLED.
