Based on the most recent data released by Omdia, the global shipments of true wireless (TWS) earbuds experienced a 0.7% year-on-year decrease in the second quarter of 2026, amounting to a total of 82.1 million units. This decline marks the first instance of a year-on-year drop since the second quarter of 2023. Omdia forecasts that open-fit wireless stereo (OWS) earbuds are poised to become one of the most promising segments within the TWS market in the years ahead. Annual shipments of OWS earbuds are projected to surge from 43.9 million units in 2026 to 90.5 million units by 2030, representing nearly one-fifth of the total TWS shipments.
