Based on the Flat Panel Display Tracking and Forecast data from Counterpoint Research, the global shipments of flat panel displays are projected to experience a 4.7% year-on-year decrease in 2026. The burgeoning demand for AI data centers has triggered a significant hike in storage prices. These escalated costs are subsequently being transferred to end-user devices, which in turn is curbing demand in pivotal application sectors like smartphones and tablets. Specifically, shipments of mobile phone panels are anticipated to drop by 9.5% year-on-year, whereas those of monitor and notebook panels are forecasted to fall by 1.7% and 2.7%, respectively. To counteract the challenges in the mid-to-low-end market segment, manufacturers are stepping up their efforts to roll out high-end products. As a result, shipments of OLED monitors and notebook panels are expected to surge by 60% and 50%, respectively. Furthermore, the automotive display market has emerged as a promising area and is poised to sustain its growth trajectory.
