The wave of rising prices in the consumer electronics sector has now swept in another major player. Over the past weekend, Amazon implemented substantial price hikes for its range of hardware devices, with certain products witnessing price increases of as much as 60%. Well-known electronic gadgets under the Amazon brand, including the streaming media player Fire TV, the intelligent speaker Echo, the e-reader Kindle, and the router Eero, have all been subjected to price revisions. Notably, the price tag of the budget-friendly smart speaker Echo Dot jumped from $49.99 to $79.99, representing a hefty 60% escalation. An Amazon spokesperson explained that the consumer electronics industry is currently grappling with substantial cost surges in memory and storage components. Despite making every effort to shoulder these costs internally, the company has ultimately opted to adjust prices across its entire product lineup.
