Recently, a PC user ran into trouble while trying to disconnect the DisplayPort video cable from their graphics card. The cable's outer plastic casing and internal wires gave way, leaving the metal connector lodged firmly inside the graphics card's port. The root cause? The DisplayPort interface incorporates a mechanical latch mechanism. To remove the cable safely, one must first press the release button. If the graphics card isn't properly aligned with the rear panel of the chassis or if the fixing screws on the graphics card are overtightened, it can make extracting the cable a challenging task.
It's advisable to shut down the computer and disconnect the power supply before attempting any cable removal to mitigate the risk of electrical shock.
