Several users and tech experts have reported that Microsoft has forcibly rolled out and installed a new OneDrive Photos application on certain Windows 11 systems. This application is capable of accessing local images and, once users log in, offers features like AI-powered cloud search, OCR (Optical Character Recognition) text extraction, and facial image grouping. Microsoft has underscored its commitment to user privacy by stating that it will never utilize users' facial image data for training its artificial intelligence models. However, despite these assurances, users continue to voice concerns over privacy and security implications. The new app's functionalities overlap significantly with those of the system's native Photos app, and the inability to uninstall it independently has further fueled user discontent.
