This particular feature was initially rumored to be integrated into the iPhone 17 series two years prior. However, supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo subsequently confirmed that its implementation would be delayed until the iPhone 18 series.

The variable aperture lens on the iPhone 18 Pro's primary camera supports seamless adjustment from f/1.4 to f/4.0. This enables the camera to adapt its light intake according to varying lighting conditions, thereby enhancing shooting performance. In bright lighting scenarios, reducing the aperture size helps prevent overexposure and preserves more intricate details.
