OPPO's subsidiary, realme, has officially declared its withdrawal from the Chinese market, with intentions to concentrate on expanding its business overseas. On July 16, Xu Qi, the President of realme China, issued an open letter confirming this strategic shift. He mentioned that existing after-sales services would be managed by OPPO and that the system would keep getting updates to ColorOS. OPPO clarified that this decision is part of an effort to consolidate group resources and foster the synchronized growth of its global product portfolio. Since its inception in 2018, realme has garnered notable success in the Indian and Southeast Asian markets, thanks to its approach of delivering 'exceptional value for money.' After making its debut in the Chinese market in 2019, realme quickly ascended to the ranks of the top five in the domestic 5G smartphone sector. However, despite its initial success, realme has struggled to make further inroads in the face of intense competition, where leading brands command over 90% of the market share.
