In 2026, the Mobile Intelligent Terminal Ecosystem Alliance Developer Salon convened in Beijing, bringing together representatives from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) Taier Terminal Laboratory, Beihang University, leading smartphone manufacturers OPPO, vivo, Xiaomi, Honor, and a host of app developers. The gathering centered on in-depth discussions about fair RAM (Random Access Memory) operation mechanisms, culminating in a consensus on key issues related to RAM governance. Earlier, the Taier Terminal Laboratory, in collaboration with industry partners, had put forth an industry-wide proposal urging collective action to boost the efficiency of memory resource utilization.
During the event, the Taier Terminal Laboratory underscored the critical role of memory management in enhancing user experience and maintaining a healthy ecosystem. Meanwhile, the team from Beihang University presented analytical methods and collaborative approaches to tackle memory budget losses. Representatives from four manufacturers, including OPPO, shared their innovative strategies for fair RAM operation mechanisms. These strategies aim to transform performance optimization from a reactive approach to a proactive one, effectively addressing challenges such as the fragmented nature of Android memory strategies and the high costs associated with adaptation.
Currently, the Android ecosystem is undergoing a significant shift—from fragmented adaptation to standardized co-development and collaborative governance. Continuous efforts are being made in formulating relevant technical specifications, refining adaptation practices, and advancing standard development. These endeavors are set to deliver a smoother, more stable user experience, fostering a more cohesive and efficient Android ecosystem.
