On April 28, 2026, the European Union released a draft amendment to supplement exemptions for the removability requirements of portable batteries under the Battery Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, adding six categories of exempted products, including wearable devices and electric toys. Exempted products do not need to meet the requirement for end-users to replace batteries by themselves; replacement can be carried out by independent professionals. The reasons for exemption include special usage environments, product characteristic limitations, and technical constraints. The exemption list does not apply indiscriminately and only takes effect when ensuring the safety of users and devices.
