The Cyberspace Administration of China, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Ministry of Public Security have jointly released the Implementation Guidelines for Cybersecurity Labels on Consumer Internet Cameras. According to the guidelines, the cybersecurity features of consumer internet cameras are classified into three tiers: Basic, Enhanced, and Advanced, denoted by one, two, and three stars respectively. These guidelines are exclusively applicable to the registration and application of cybersecurity labels for consumer internet cameras and do not extend to cameras used in public security sectors. Consumer internet cameras are defined as standalone devices purchased and utilized by individual consumers or organizations, which are capable of collecting and processing audio-visual information and are connected to the internet. The guidelines specify that cybersecurity labels must contain details such as the manufacturer's name, model specifications, cybersecurity tier, label validity period, testing laboratory's name, national standard or technical document reference, and registration information code. The registration authority is mandated to make product cybersecurity label information publicly accessible for queries and to swiftly disclose any infractions committed by manufacturers and testing agencies.
