Industry insiders suggest that the iPhone 18 Pro, slated for release by Apple this autumn, might once again encounter problems with its exterior color fading, sparking apprehension among prospective buyers. This information was initially disclosed by the Weibo account 'Dingjiao Digital' on June 12, cautioning consumers to stay alert for possible color fading and discoloration on the upcoming model.
It has been reported that the iPhone 18 Pro will persist with an aluminum alloy casing, rather than switching to titanium. Earlier, the iPhone 17 Pro frequently suffered from paint peeling and fading, attributed to defects in the anodizing and sealing techniques used on its aluminum alloy surface, with the Starry Orange variant being notably susceptible. To combat this issue, the iPhone 18 Pro has incorporated a novel low-temperature aluminum refining process, designed to enhance the aluminum alloy's durability, resistance to corrosion, and color stability.
The latest device is anticipated to come in four color variants: Matte Black, Brushed Silver, Frosted Light Blue, and Deep Cherry Red, with Deep Cherry Red taking center stage. Although the new process is projected to minimize paint peeling, the inherent characteristics of aluminum alloy imply that its scratch resistance still lags behind that of titanium. Hence, users are encouraged to treat the device with caution.
