According to CCTV Business, with information sourced from France 24, in 2020, consumer rights groups in France initiated legal proceedings against Nintendo. They alleged that Nintendo had deliberately concealed the prevalent joystick drift problem in the original Switch Joy-Con controllers, thus infringing on consumers' lawful rights. Recently, Nintendo consented to pay a fine of 35 million euros (equivalent to roughly 270 million yuan) to resolve an investigation by French regulatory authorities into the controller defects. These issues are characterized by the joystick automatically drifting without being touched, buttons getting stuck, and other malfunctions, which significantly impair the usability of the controllers. French regulatory authorities concluded that since the Switch's release in 2017, these defects have occurred frequently over a long period. However, Nintendo did not promptly disclose information about these defects or offer effective after-sales solutions.
