The Volonaut Airbike flying motorcycle, unveiled by Polish inventor Tomasz Patan, has captured widespread interest. Touted as the real-world counterpart of the Star Wars flying motorcycle, it commands a price tag of 880,000 US dollars. Developed by Volonaut, this innovative flying motorcycle is slated for its official launch in May 2025.
Departing from conventional rotor designs, it harnesses a pure jet propulsion system and presents a sleek, minimalist aesthetic devoid of exposed propellers. Constructed with a generous use of high-strength carbon fiber and 3D-printed parts, the motorcycle's empty weight is a mere 30 kilograms or so, facilitating nimble handling.
Capable of vertical takeoff and landing, as well as maintaining stable hover, it is outfitted with a flight stabilization system that can seamlessly transition to semi-automatic mode. With a top speed of 200 kilometers per hour, it offers a flight duration of around 10 minutes and a maximum range of 35 kilometers.
Presently, the flying motorcycle has undergone numerous rounds of field flight testing and is in the midst of seeking certification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency. The first batch of products is anticipated to be delivered by the end of 2026.
