Many older generations hold the belief that delaying a phone's charge until the battery is entirely depleted can prolong its life. This idea stems from the memory effect associated with nickel-cadmium batteries. However, contemporary smartphones predominantly employ lithium-ion batteries, which are not susceptible to this phenomenon. The longevity of lithium-ion batteries is determined by the total number of charge-discharge cycles they undergo. Waiting until the battery is completely drained before charging it amounts to over-discharging, a practice that can harm the battery's chemical composition, diminish its capacity, and hasten its deterioration.

Experts advise initiating the charging process when the battery level drops to between 20% and 30%, and halting it once it reaches 80% to 90%. Additionally, it is recommended to refrain from maintaining a fully charged battery for prolonged durations, utilize only original or certified chargers, and be mindful of the temperature in the charging environment.
