An investigation by the Competition Commission of India (CCI) has revealed that Apple has misused its dominant market position in the Indian iOS app sector. This misuse is evident in Apple's practice of compelling developers to utilize its exclusive payment system and imposing hefty commission fees. Despite Apple's refusal to provide financial data, its challenge to India's antitrust penalty regulations, and its plea for a halt in the proceedings, the CCI has dismissed these efforts. The CCI has mandated Apple to disclose its financial specifics and has set a date for the conclusive hearing on May 21, 2026. Should Apple be deemed culpable, it could be subjected to a substantial fine, potentially reaching $38 billion.
