Microsoft has increased the prices of its Surface series devices, becoming one of the PC manufacturers to pass on costs to consumers due to the shortage of memory chips. Specifically, the starting price of the 12-inch Surface Pro has risen from $800 to $1,050, with price increases also seen in the 13-inch Surface Pro 11th Edition and the 13.8-inch Surface Laptop. Microsoft stated that it has updated product prices due to rising memory and component costs and will regularly review pricing based on factors such as market conditions and operational costs. Currently, the PC industry is facing a shortage of memory chips, leading manufacturers like Dell, Lenovo, and HP to also raise prices and limit the configurable options for their devices.
