Renowned Apple insider Mark Gurman reports that the development of Apple’s first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Ultra, has reached a pivotal phase. The device will feature a book-style foldable design, boasting an inner screen of approximately 7.7 inches and an outer screen measuring 5.3 inches when unfolded. This design aims to address two major challenges currently plaguing the foldable smartphone industry: screen creases and inadequate durability.

In terms of specifications, the iPhone Ultra is rumored to be powered by the A20 Pro chip and feature a high-density 5,800mAh battery. It is also expected to support up to 12GB of memory and incorporate a side-mounted integrated Touch ID fingerprint unlocking system. Additionally, the device will eliminate physical SIM card slots, relying solely on eSIM technology, and may integrate under-display camera technology.

With an anticipated starting price exceeding $2,000, the iPhone Ultra is poised to become the most expensive iPhone model in Apple’s history. Its release is planned for autumn 2026.
